Dr Michael Riediker, A.A. Prof. NTU, PD Unil

Michael directs the research activities at IOM Singapore. He is a highly experienced in risk assessment relating to gaseous and particulate pollutants and noise exposure from environmental sources and industrial processes, and how to assess their link to health. He uses this insight to consult governments and companies about how policies, R&D and production processes can be improved to address these risks.
Michael is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore and teaches as a Private-Docent at the University of Lausanne. He is certified Occupational Hygienist (SGAH/IOHA) and a Graduate of IOSH, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Michael obtained his Masters and Doctoral Degree in Natural Sciences (Environmental Hygiene) and a Master in Advanced Studies in Occupational Health at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETHZ), Switzerland. He conducted his post-doctoral studies in North Carolina where he studies highway patrol troopers’ exposure and cardiovascular health. From 2004 until 2015 he led the research on particles and health at the Institute for Work and Health, University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
Michael is an active contributor and leader of international research projects on nanomaterial risks and an internationally recognized contributor of scientific articles to research journals, book chapters as well as guidance for occupational health practitioners. He is member of the editorial board of two toxicological journals (“Nanotoxicology” and “Particle and Fibre Toxicology”), and he was the founder and first editor of the European NanoSafetyCluster compendium. He serves as expert to ISO, several governments, and the UN, and contributes to the WHO activity on occupational risks of nanomaterials. He is an active contributor to European and Singaporean research and networking efforts and conferences.
