Dr Joanne Crawford
Dr Joanne Crawford is Head of Ergonomics and Human Factors at IOM at the UK Institute of Occupational Medicine and a Visiting Ergonomics Consultant with IOM Singapore. She is Chartered Ergonomics and Human Factors Specialist and has over 25 years of experience in this field. This has been over a wide range of issues including musculoskeletal disorders, workplace design and ergonomics, ageing and work and knowledge transfer in occupational safety and health. Her research work has been with a variety of different sectors including emergency service works, construction, healthcare, office and call centres and finance and commerce. She has also carried out research in different occupational groups including older workers, telecommunications workers, firefighters and healthcare professionals. As a consultant she provides consultancy services advising on the reduction of workplace risks.
In her previous role as a Senior Lecturer in Ergonomics, she was involved in lecturing at all degree levels as well as developing and running short courses in ergonomics.
Joanne has worked with a number of government agencies at UK and EU-level contributing to the evidence base and the development of policies and practice on areas including ageing and work, musculoskeletal disorders and mental wellbeing at work.
