Gerald Tan is currently a Safety Solutions Consultant with JOSH Solutions Pte. Ltd. He received his BEng(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from UMIST in 2004, and in 2012, was certified as a Fall Protection Engineer from the United States.
Since graduation, Gerald's work experiences for the past 10 years ranges from shipyard repair work as a manager, as well as being certified as a safety assessor for specific high risk activities, to heavy lift operations for both on and offshore, tugboat towing operations and mobile crane erection services, as well as project management, scheduling, and cost & certification management.
In 2013, Gerald attended the pilot run for the Work-At-Heights Train-The-Trainer course, and subsequently was appointed to conduct the pilot run for the Work-At-Heights Authorised Manager Course under the tender awarded by the Ministry of Manpower.
As an accredited trainer, Gerald conducts various trainings, both in-house as well as ministry-approved certification courses. Such trainings, together with consultancy services, including internal audits and inspection services, have been extended to statutory boards and business organisations such as the National Environmental Agency (NEA), Sentosa Leisure Group (SLG), Mount Faber Leisure Group Pte Ltd (MFLG), Public Utilities Board (PUB), G&W PreCast Pte Ltd, LegoLand Malaysia, HG Metal Manufacturing Ltd, ST Aviation Services Company (SASCO), Chevron Phillips Singapore Chemicals, Intermay Magix Pte Ltd, and Bok Seng Logistics, Bok Seng Group.
Gerald is currently a member of the Institute of Engineers, Singapore (IES) as well as with the Singapore Institute of Safety Officers (SISO). He is also a volunteer as a Venue Safety Advisor Team Lead for the 28th S.E.A. Games held in Singapore in 2015.
