Nanomaterial Value Chain Assessment
The NanoEXS project aims to identify more efficient strategies to protect workers along value chains in Singapore, which nanomaterials Singaporean workers are most likely exposed to, what protective strategies are applied and how effective these are. Companies manufacturing or using nanomaterials in Singapore will be identified and interviewed about their production and protective strategies. The protective strategies will be assessed and benchmarked against international good practice. They will also be assessed over the entire value chain to reduce the modification efforts (cost, technique, organisation) with more design flexibility and higher efficiency. The project aims to provide recommendations for improving protective strategies and guidelines that will help Singapore remain at the forefront of the emerging nanotechnology and at the same time benefit the participating companies, occupational health specialists, and decision makers.
The NanoEXS project is funded by the Workplace Safety and Health Institute(WSHI), Ministry of Manpower, Singapore. Our collaborators include Nanyang Technological University and industrial partners. The principal investigator is Dr. Michael Riediker.
